Vergennes Grand began in the mid-1960s as Clark’s Nursing Home, serving 18 residents. It has operated as a licensed care home for the past fifty-five years, providing housing and care for seniors in Addison County. During this time, there have been dramatic changes in the industry, including major changes in regulatory and licensing requirements, new approaches to caring for seniors, smarter designs, a greater focus on hospitality, and even a name change to Vergennes Residential Care Home (VRC). 

 

In 2019, Grand Senior Living acquired VRC after identifying a senior housing need was not being met, specifically, seniors needing assisted living and memory care and with varying levels of income. After several years of design and development, we will open Vergennes Grand in early 2025.

 

Vergennes Grand will house up to eighty-eight independent living, assisted living and
memory care residents in a thoughtfully designed, state-of-the-art building. Located in the heart of downtown Vergennes, residents, families and staff will enjoy easy access to all the local community has to offer just outside its front door. Inside, the many amenities will provide an engaging and supportive lifestyle for those of varying capabilities. Residents can enjoy three delicious meals a day with views of the Adirondack mountains from the main dining room. Other amenities include a café & market, art studio, fitness studio, roof terrace, TV lounge, and much more. 

 

Vergennes Grand is owned and operated by Grand Senior Living (GSL) and its local partners and is a Vermont based company. GSL has been developing and managing senior housing since 2000 and presently owns and/or manages five communities in Vermont, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.
